    The Grass is Always ....

... Shorter on the Other Side.

OK I know that's not the saying but it is more accurate as a statement. I know the grass is always greener... is intended to show that things are not always as they seem. In its most simple form suggesting that each resident in a semi-detached house thinks their immediate neighbour is better off than themselves. The truth is that in some respects they may be and in others they may not be. Ultimately we should be happy with our lot and if we aren't then it's up to us to do something about it, better that than look on enviously at a situation that may be worse than our own.

Getting back to 'shorter on the other side' I am dealing with facts in the world of gardening. It is almost guaranteed that if you choose to mow the lawn that your neighbours will be out doing the same soon after - through either guilt of having an untidy garden or pride at not having the shortest lawn depending on their penchant towards gardening. At it's worst this can cause a domino effect down a street with any thoughts of a quiet day drowned out by a variety of lawnmower engines.

For me it seems that if grass is mowed too often and kept too short it can start to brown or yellow at the slightest change in the weather. Thus proving once and for all that the grass is not always greener on the other side.
